Pour chaque projet, je commence par un bilan de la littérature (PubMed) afin de situer mes questions dans l’état des connaissances. J’ai rédigé une revue sur l’influence de l’environnement précoce dans la maladie d’Alzheimer tardive, publiée dans Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. Mon rôle de relecteur pour des revues internationales m’a entraîné à juger la fiabilité d’une source : qualité des méthodes, pertinence des statistiques, solidité des conclusions. Je structure mes données (nommage, sauvegardes, partage avec les partenaires) et je m’appuie sur les plateformes pour les données massives, comme les omiques.

Mon parcours m’a conduit à m’approprier de nouvelles méthodes à chaque projet. Je travaille régulièrement avec des experts d’autres disciplines (immunité, parasitologie, métabolisme, plateformes de cytométrie et d’omiques), ce qui m’oblige à adapter mon discours à chaque interlocuteur. J’ai participé à la rédaction de demandes de financement, qui demandent de formuler une problématique et de défendre un projet. J’accompagne aussi des étudiants (4 en thèse, 2 en postdoc) dans la prise en main des méthodes et l’analyse de leurs données.

Pendant ma thèse, j’ai intégré des données de natures très différentes (comportement, transcriptomique, protéomique, métabolisme) pour comprendre l’effet d’un régime maternel hyperlipidique sur la descendance : seul le croisement de ces approches a permis de mettre en évidence un effet dépendant du sexe. Mon esprit critique s’est ensuite affiné pendant mon postdoc, en validant mes propres méthodes avant de conclure, et en relisant des articles pour des revues internationales. Mon rôle de relecteur pour des revues internationales m’a entraîné à évaluer la solidité d’une méthode, la pertinence des statistiques et la validité des conclusions, des réflexes que j’applique ensuite à mes propres données.
